Angelo Building Specialties first opened its doors in the 1970s. San Angelo was going through a building boom at the time, and we took full advantage, providing hollow metal doors, replacement partition units for restrooms in industrial settings, garage door replacements, and more to builders across the area. During this time, we were able to build our garage door company with a strong customer base and prove our installation and service expertise.

These advantages are what enabled us to survive the oil crunch and depressed building market of the 1980s. While many businesses in the area suffered or closed their doors, we held on. For that, we have to thank our referral base and repeat clients. Without them, we would not have been able to keep our garage door company going until the economy improved in the 1990s.

In 1995, we were well-placed to serve the community after a big storm blew out hundreds of skylights and caused large amounts of damage to homes and businesses. Our products were in high demand, and we were able to help the community pick up the pieces and rebuild after the storm. We used the expertise we gained during this time to expand our product line, selecting products for a true 21st-century market.

Our standbys are what they were when we started: certified, tornado-resistant hollow steel doors; replacement restroom partitions; and skylights. However, we’ve added a number of other products to this lineup. We offer architectural replacement windows, elegantly appointed estate-level garage doors, all architectural hardware, including cabinet hardware, pulls, knobs, and decorative appliance hardware and more. All of our garage doors, even the ones with the beautiful wood finishes, are backed by networks of steel reinforcements. This ensures that our customers get the best of both worlds: old-fashioned attractiveness and modern strength and durability. They might be slightly more expensive, but they are worth every penny.
