How to Extend Your Garage Door’s Life

Garage doors are subject to damage over the years, with constant exposure to harsh weather patterns, accidental damage, and more. However, there are ways to prolong the life of your garage door!

Examine Your Garage Door Regularly: At least twice per year, you should examine the various parts and mechanisms that allow your garage door to work properly. Listen to the door as it opens and closes and see if it sounds louder. Is the door moving slower than normal? Taking the time to examine your garage door can help you to catch any broken or damaged parts that could be replaced first, before having to replace your entire garage door. 

Have the Parts Serviced: When examining the garage door, you may discover that it needs a new belt or some new hardware. Having your garage door parts serviced, repaired, or replaced can help to extend your garage door’s life, saving you money and time. 

Battery Replacement: One of the reasons that your garage door may not be opening isn’t because it’s broken, but rather that it’s time to replace the battery. You can check to see if you need a new battery by unplugging your garage door opener, plugging it back in, and then trying to open it with the button. If the door doesn’t open, then it’s recommended to try changing the battery and the light bulbs before deciding to have the door replaced.
